  • Your money put to good use. Since its launch in 2003, the PDA has paid for two items of equipment: an ultrasound scanner which is currently being used in the Breast Assessment Centre; and an examination couch which is currently used in The Nigel Porter Unit and can be lowered and raised electronically. These two items of equipment will be used at the new unit in Preston Road where the two departments will be under one roof.

BRIGHTON and SUSSEX UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS TRUST are undertaking the development of a brand new Breast Unit.

We plan to create a prestigious Breast Care Unit, a welcoming place, designed to ease anxiety and to maintain dignity during uncertain times. All breast services will be under one roof together with special equipment.

THE PINK DOLPHIN APPEAL is supporting this project, raising funds to ensure that the most up-to-date facilities and equipment are provided and maintained.

Breast Care Nurses Helpline runs from 9 to 10am each weekday morning.

Our Appeal has been constantly supported by The Argus

"Unfortunately, many of us, men and women will be touched by someone who will suffer from breast cancer. Please support this local appeal which could save more women's lives." - Simon Bradshaw - Editor of The Argus

Breast cancer is very common. It affects 1 in 10 people, (mainly women, though men also get it) so most families will know of someone who is affected, or will be in the future, and will want them to receive the very best care and treatment.

`Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women.`

Imagine you are comforting your mother, sister, daughter or close friend undergoing tests for suspected breast cancer . . . .
. . . . . wouldn't you want the reassurance that they are receiving the very best care available?
