Local Support Groups

Maria Daultry, who works both at the Nigel Porter Unit as a Breast Care Nurse Practitioner and at Princess Royal Hospital as a Breast Care Nurse Specialist, runs two Breast Cancer Support Groups at `The Triangle’, the Old Hospital Healing Centre, Chapelfields, Cuckfield.

NEWLY DIAGNOSED BREAST CANCER SUPPORT GROUP
On the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 1.30 pm till 3.30pm is a small, relaxed friendly group of ladies that have all been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Some have had their surgery, some have started radiotherapy or chemotherapy, however, everyone shares the same mixed emotions, fears and anxieties.

SECONDARY BREAST CANCER SUPPORT GROUP
On the 1st Wednesday of each month from 1.30pm till 3.30pm is a group for women that have been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. This is a self-help group offering mutual support. The breast care nurse attends to offer medical knowledge. We explore treatment issues, alternative therapies, social problems, spiritual issues and discuss anything that anyone feels the need to.

The nurses run a Patient Help Line from Monday to Friday between 9 and 10am on 01273 696955 ext 4111 – which is available to anyone seeking advice on breast care.
